Intro

I've always been fascinated by the メタボリズム (metabolism), and Kisho Kurokawa's Nakagin capsule:

One day I'll get myself a motorhome, or more likely make myself a micro camper.
And/or a boat :-) - preferably a sailboat (mine is too small for the sailing I want to do). (And probably take off to Ἰθάκη).
And yes, all the models listed here are small. I don't want a big motorhome or a big boat. Minimalist is the word...

Not a motorhome yet, just a caravan, but almost my dream all the same !

But quickly I decided to make my own.
The idea is to have something that I can take in and out of the van quickly in order to be able to also use it as a regular van.
All I need is a couch/bed, a table, a cooker, a shelf and a toilet.
I got my inspiration from those projects: I first looked at the dimensions of various vans.
See also this van comparison.
I decided first to go for this one, which has the longest back section, but I learned that in Luxemburg, this type of van is considered as professionnal vehicule, and therefore has to undergo an inspection every year. I didn't particularly want that, so I had to change plan.
Solution: buy a regular "car", and remove the back seats.
The best vehicle for that is either the Ford grand Tourneo, or the Ford Tourneo Custom. (The VolkWagen (maxi) Caddy does the same for twice the price).
A better idea of my project.
I already have all I need, including the couch/bed.
Table will be camping table or this or this.
Alimentation electrique ou ceci.

I've tested the concept by renting a van for a week-end, and I found it viable, albeit with a slightly bigger van, so I'll buy my own van.
I don't intend to modify it permanently. Furniture will be tied to the floor or ceiling or sides with plastic binder. The only permanent modification will be some insulation, probably foam or cork. At least that's the plan for the moment, but I've been known tochange my mind occasionally :-)
